Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket, describing it as a "joint ticket of corruption." Wike made these comments during town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara Kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. He expressed skepticism about the ticket's chances of securing the mandatory 25 percent constitutional vote share in strategic states like Rivers.

Wike referenced the verdict passed on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar by his former principal, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who cataloged Atiku's alleged corruption baggage. Wike noted that a candidate with such a record can hardly claim moral integrity. He also stated that the inclusion of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi worsens the ticket's moral standing.

Wike's comments were in response to Atiku's recent call for Nigerians to accept money from anyone, saying it would be "stolen money." Wike questioned Atiku's sudden interest in anti-corruption efforts, given his past record. He also dismissed the opposition as "political jobbers" and expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu's reelection bid.

Wike emphasized that his ultimate political goal is to secure victory for President Tinubu in the 2027 general election. He called on the people of Rivers State to shun those deceiving Nigerians and vote for Tinubu's reelection, citing the President's developmental efforts in the state. Wike expressed optimism that Tinubu's reelection will be easier in 2027 than in 2023.

The FCT Minister cautioned against internal friction and communal distractions orchestrated by elements seeking to destabilize the grassroots. He stressed that true political capacity stems from organic connection with the people, contrasting the vision of the current administration with the records of those seeking power through compromised alliances.

Wike also criticized the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, describing him and others as "unelectable" politicians. Wike's comments reflect his confidence in the current administration's vision and his skepticism about the opposition's chances in the 2027 election.

Wike concluded by urging the people of Rivers State to appreciate President Tinubu's efforts and ensure massive votes for his reelection. He emphasized that the President's developmental efforts in the state and his appointments demonstrate his commitment to the people of Rivers State.
