The Mauritius Meteorological Services has issued a weather forecast for October 11, 2026, indicating that a light air current is flowing over the region, while clouds coming from the east will influence local weather. This morning and afternoon, there will be cloudy periods with showers, mainly over the east, south, and the central plateau. These showers could temporarily turn moderate with a risk of thunderstorms.
The weather forecast also indicates that tonight, the sky will be partly cloudy becoming occasionally cloudy, mainly in the east, south, and over the central plateau with light showers. The temperature will range from 23°C to 25°C on the central plateau and 27°C to 30°C along coastal areas for the maximum. The minimum temperature will be between 16°C and 18°C on the central plateau and 20°C to 22°C along coastal areas.
The wind will be light and variable early this morning, blowing from the east-southeast at around 15 km/h during the day. The sea conditions will be moderate beyond the reefs with southwesterly swells of about 2 meters. The pressure atmospheric at 04h00 was 1018 hectopascals.
The current weather conditions in the southwest of the Indian Ocean are characterized by a calm winter season. The activity of clouds and thunderstorms remains weak to moderate near the equator. The atmospheric and oceanic conditions, marked by the anomalies of east winds linked to the El Niño phenomenon and the start of the positive phase of the Indian Ocean Dipole, block the formation of cyclones.
However, the arrival of a humid phase of the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) is expected to stimulate clouds and thunderstorms over the western basin, particularly towards the Seychelles region. This increase in activity will be accentuated by the passage of an equatorial wave between October 15 and 20, 2026.
The meteorological station recorded rainfall over the past 24 hours, with Mare Aux Vacoas receiving 0.4 mm and St. Felix receiving 0.2 mm. The temperature and wind speed were also recorded at various stations across the island, with Albion recording a maximum temperature of 29°C and a wind speed of 36 km/h.
The sun rose at 05h43 and will set at 18h10. The ultraviolet index is expected to be high, with a reading of 7 at 12:00. The tide will be high at 12h52 and low at 06h53 and 19h25.
