The newly elected executives of the Warri Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists have pledged to strengthen their partnership with the Warri Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency. This was announced during a courtesy visit to the Agency's headquarters in Effurun, where the Chapel's chairman, Comr. Akpokona Omafuaire Esq., emphasized the importance of collaboration in promoting development through responsible journalism. The visit aimed to formally introduce the new chapel executives to the Agency's management.

Comr. Omafuaire described WUEDA as a performing interventionist agency with increasingly visible activities across Warri, Uvwie, and their environs. He stated that the Chapel is ready to partner with the Agency by providing professional coverage of its activities, particularly in areas such as drainage construction, road development, and other infrastructural projects. This partnership aims to improve the quality of life of residents by providing accurate and credible information on government projects.

Comr. Michael Ikeogwu, immediate past Chairman of the Delta State Council of the NUJ, commended Hon. Godwin E. Ejinyere and his team for their efforts in driving WUEDA's intervention projects. He emphasized the importance of sustained supervision and monitoring of projects to ensure that contractors maintain the required standards and deliver value for public funds. This will guarantee the quality and durability of the projects.

The immediate past Chairman of the NUJ, Warri Correspondents Chapel, Okakuro Victor Okies Okpomor, commended the WUEDA Management for its interventions and urged the Agency to maintain close supervision of ongoing projects. Prince Ejinyere, Director-General of WUEDA, thanked the journalists for the courtesy visit and described their observations and constructive comments as valuable to the Agency. He assured the NUJ delegation that WUEDA is committed to delivering quality infrastructure in accordance with acceptable engineering standards.

Prince Ejinyere appealed to journalists to uphold the ethics of the profession by properly investigating and verifying information before publication. He warned that inaccurate news reports and unverified allegations could mislead the public, damage the reputation of institutions, and contribute to the spread of misinformation and fake news. The Director-General emphasized the importance of a developmental approach to reportage, highlighting genuine challenges and promoting constructive engagement between government agencies and the people.

Prince Ejinyere noted that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remains committed to restoring the lost glory of Warri, Uvwie, and their immediate surroundings, with WUEDA's interventions being part of the administration's broader effort to address critical infrastructural challenges in the Oil City. He called on journalists to adopt a developmental approach to their reportage, giving adequate attention to projects, their objectives, challenges, and impact on the people.

The NUJ delegation included the new executive members, such as Comrade Francis Sadhere, Comrade Edeki Igafe, and Comrade Onyekachukwu Meluwa, among others. WUEDA's Director of Administration and Finance, Ochuko Mofe-Ojeke, and the Agency's Chief Accountant, Mrs. Roseline Okorigba, were among the Management staff present during the meeting.
