A video has been circulating on social media, claiming to show a recent announcement by the Front pour la refondation de la nation (FRN) that they will take Uvira soon. The video, which shows a gathering in Kamanyola, was shared on Facebook and X, with captions stating that the FRN had announced its intention to take Uvira within the week. However, fact-checking by Eleza Fact revealed that the video is actually from October 2025.

The video was shared on several social media platforms, including Facebook and X, with some users reacting with concern and others expressing support for the FRN's alleged plans. One user commented, "Prenez tout. Venez prendre aussi Kinshasa ! De toute façon on n'en profite en rien sauf eux et leur famille." Another user wrote, "Kisalu me banda [le travail commence], fini la récréation...." The video was shared by several pages, including AFC/m23 revolution and Uvira drone.

Eleza Fact conducted a reverse image search using Google Lens and compared the images to previous publications, finding that the video was actually from October 2025. The same images were found in a video published on October 9, 2025, on the X account Aganze Rafiki, which showed a gathering at Kamanyola's center, with a white tent and a similar configuration of the crowd.

According to several media outlets at the time, the event was held on October 9, 2025, in Kamanyola, where a transformer was presented to the inhabitants by the administration set up by the AFC/M23. The professor Stanislas BALEKE, director of cabinet at the Coordination AFC/M23, addressed the population of Uvira, asking them to prepare to welcome their forces, claiming that the troops had already reached the locality of Katogota.

The media outlet Umuryango reported on October 10, 2025, that the AFC/M23 had stated its intention to capture Uvira within a few days. The article quoted Busu Bwa Ngwi Patrick, the governor of the South Kivu province appointed by the AFC/M23, presenting a power transformer to the inhabitants of Kamanyola's center. IGIHE also reported on October 10, 2025, that the AFC/M23 coalition had mentioned its intention to take Uvira soon.

The FRN, led by former President Joseph Kabila, was announced on October 12, 2026, as a politico-military movement presented as the successor to the AFC/M23. The movement aims to federate resistance forces to "put an end to tyranny by all means, including force." The FRN's announcement about taking Uvira was made in a context of escalating conflict with forces loyal to the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
