The Ministry of Scientific Research in Cameroon organized a conference on the quality management system on October 28, as part of the activities for the Month of Research. The conference, themed "System of quality management: what stakes for research structures under the tutelage of Minresi?", aimed to promote a better understanding of the concept among research institutions.
The Secretary General of the Ministry, Pr. Rebecca Madeleine Ebelle Etame, emphasized that implementing a quality management system is crucial for the development of research and innovation, as well as improving performance. She encouraged researchers to adopt the expert's recommendations to enhance attractiveness and partnerships.
Dr. Victor Tchemtchoua Tateu, a quality expert and CEO of Be Quality Consulting, was the main speaker at the conference. In his presentation, he highlighted the importance of prioritizing quality and how quality management can become a strategic lever for performance in research institutions.
Dr. Tchemtchoua Tateu noted that in an environment where funding is increasingly competitive, and requirements for credibility, traceability, and data integrity are growing, having a quality management system is no longer an option for scientific research institutions. He emphasized that quality in research refers to producing reliable results while ensuring their credibility.
The conference provided a platform for researchers and stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities in implementing quality management systems in research institutions. The Ministry of Scientific Research hopes that the conference will contribute to improving the quality of research in Cameroon.
