The "Entre Lugares" exhibition, featuring 24 artworks by Vítor Azevedo, has opened in Praia, Cabo Verde. The show invites viewers to reflect on identity, memory, and belonging through the artist's personal and collective experiences. Azevedo's work is inspired by architectural and visual similarities between cities, particularly in the colors of facades, building shapes, and light and shadow patterns. These elements have been transformed into an abstract visual language.

Vítor Azevedo, son of a Portuguese mother and Cabo-Verdean father, has lived in England for 27 years, after spending part of his youth in Portugal. His experience living between different countries has influenced his cultural identity, which he now seeks to deepen through a stronger connection to his Cabo-Verdean roots. The exhibition's title, "Entre Lugares," reflects his life between England, Portugal, and Cabo Verde, countries that hold cultural and visual references present in his personal and artistic journey.

The exhibition is being held in the Platô area, which holds special significance for Azevedo as it is linked to his paternal family's history. The show represents an opportunity for him to connect with his roots and share his interpretation of the spaces and cultural references that are part of his story. Azevedo highlighted the importance of architecture and small visual elements that often go unnoticed, saying he aims to transform these observations into artistic compositions.

With a background in sciences, specifically Aquaculture and Biology, Azevedo's experience as an immigrant and adaptation to different contexts led him to pursue a career in the arts. He has had exhibitions in England and later developed artistic training. During the exhibition opening, Azevedo expressed concern about urban transformations and the loss of historic buildings in Platô, advocating for the preservation of architectural heritage as a fundamental part of the city's cultural identity.

Azevedo also emphasized the need for more opportunities and exhibition spaces in Cabo Verde, noting that there are relevant works in the field of plastic arts, but a lack of structures limits their dissemination and the development of the sector. This is Azevedo's second exhibition in Cabo Verde, following a previous presentation in a Praia bookstore, where five of his paintings were displayed.

The exhibition "Entre Lugares" will be open to the public until November 22nd. Vítor Azevedo's work invites viewers to interpret the emotions conveyed by colors and forms, leaving room for personal reflection and connection with the artworks. The exhibition is a result of Azevedo's search for identity and belonging, and his experiences living between different cultures and countries.
