The used car market in Egypt is experiencing a period of relative stability, with a notable increase in demand for dependable and economical models that offer low operating costs and ease of resale. According to Muntasir Ziton, head of the Automotive Division in Kafr El Sheikh, the market offers a variety of options across different price segments. The economical category, which includes several Chinese and Korean models, is priced between 160,000 and 330,000 EGP, catering to those with limited budgets and for daily use.

Within the economical category, models such as Suzuki Alto and Esperanza A113 from 2007 to 2013 are priced between 160,000 and 200,000 EGP. Meanwhile, Daewoo Lanos and Chevrolet Aveo models from 2005 to 2010 start at 220,000 EGP and go up to 270,000 EGP. Hyundai Verna and Accent models from 2005 to 2013 are priced between 200,000 and 330,000 EGP. These options provide affordable choices for buyers looking for reliable used cars.

The mid-range category, which is the most in demand, spans from 350,000 to 650,000 EGP and is preferred by families and those seeking automatic transmission vehicles. This segment includes Renault Logan and Chevrolet Optra models from 2018 to 2021, priced between 450,000 and 550,000 EGP, and Nissan Sunny models starting at 500,000 EGP up to 660,000 EGP for more recent versions. Additionally, Chery Arrizo 5 models from 2022 to 2024 are priced between 580,000 and 650,000 EGP.

For those looking at more recent models, the prices are correspondingly higher. MG 5 and Toyota Corolla models from 2021 to 2023 start at 720,000 EGP and can reach up to 1,000,000 EGP for nearly new conditions. Hyundai Elantra HD/AD and Renault Megane models are priced between 820,000 and 1,050,000 EGP, depending on their condition and year of manufacture. These newer models offer advanced features and better performance, appealing to buyers with higher budgets.

According to Muntasir Ziton, the most sought-after used cars in the Egyptian market are Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra HD/AD, Nissan Sunny, and MG models. These cars are in high demand due to the widespread availability of their spare parts at reasonable prices and their quick resale value without significant loss in value. This trend reflects buyers' preferences for vehicles that are not only affordable but also reliable and easy to maintain.

When it comes to inspecting used cars before purchase, Ziton emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive technical inspection. This process goes beyond a visual check and includes examining the chassis, engine, and transmission at a specialized center. It also involves verifying the vehicle's legal status and conducting a test drive to assess the braking system's efficiency and the suspension's performance. Such thorough checks help buyers make informed decisions and avoid potential pitfalls.

The stability in Egypt's used car market is a positive indicator for both buyers and sellers. With a wide range of options available across various price segments, consumers can find vehicles that suit their needs and budgets. As the market continues to evolve, it is likely that demand for reliable and economical models will persist, driving the market's growth and offering opportunities for buyers and sellers alike.
