The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has published the names and photographs of 24 Nigerian nationals arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers over various alleged offences. The individuals were arrested in different locations across the United States over offences including wire fraud, mail fraud, money laundering, drug-related crimes, identity theft, assault, forgery, weapons violations and child cruelty.

According to DHS, the announcement was intended to highlight non-US citizens with criminal records who had been apprehended by immigration enforcement officers. The department said it was fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations – starting with the worst of the worst – including the illegal aliens on the list.

The list published by DHS identifies the Nigerian nationals, the offences associated with their cases and the locations where they were arrested. Emmanuel Omowaiye was arrested in Richmond, Texas, for mail fraud, while Laurene Onwuka was arrested in Chantilly, Virginia, for fraud and impersonation. Olusegun Shonekan was arrested in Newark, New Jersey, for wire fraud.

Other individuals on the list include Olusegun Olaseni, who was arrested in Greencastle, Indiana, for amphetamine sale, and Peter Ude, who was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, for wire fraud. Newton Jemide was arrested in Fort Dix, New Jersey, for wire fraud, conspiracy and mail fraud. Shedrack Umukoro was arrested in Yazoo City, Mississippi, for money laundering.

The list also includes Olasoji Akinbode, who was arrested in Kearny, New Jersey, for fraud and impersonation, and Oluwatosin Afolabi, who was arrested in Conroe, Texas, for fraud. Alameen Adetunji Tokosi was arrested in Chicago, Illinois, for drug possession, while Joshua Ipoade was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, for wire fraud.

Michael Orji was arrested in Oxford, Wisconsin, for weapons violation, fraud, identity theft, wire fraud, false citizenship and money laundering. Ahmadu Apooyin was arrested in Baltimore, Maryland, for a drug-related offence. Teslim Kiriji was arrested in Yazoo City, Mississippi, for money laundering, and Onomen Uduebor was arrested in Seattle, Washington, for identity theft.

The publication comes as the administration continues efforts to remove non-US citizens identified as priorities under its immigration enforcement policy. However, the information released by DHS does not specify the final immigration status of each individual or provide details of their respective deportation proceedings.
