The Management Assistant will perform a range of office management, administrative, records, logistics, and protocol duties. Key responsibilities include managing meetings and representational events for Counselor and Deputy Counselors, overseeing personnel matters, and managing travel needs for domestic and international travel. The incumbent will also serve as a point of contact for new staff members to ensure their housing needs are addressed promptly. Additionally, the Management Assistant will oversee the section's IT and communications systems to ensure that all cell phones, scanners, landlines, printers, and computers are working properly.

The position will also involve serving as a back-up for the Front Office OMS, performing duties up to the incumbent's clearance level. The Management Assistant will be familiar with the practices, procedures, and requirements of Front Office management, which are the most sophisticated and comprehensive requirements in the Mission at the OMS level. Furthermore, the incumbent will oversee the Mission's processing of over 10,000 Ugandan security officials for the Congressionally mandated Leahy Vetting process.

The Leahy Vetting process requires the Management Assistant to effectively and efficiently coordinate all Mission Leahy Vetting reviews, procedures, and processes with various sections of the Embassy. The incumbent must identify candidates with potential human rights violations and report to the Deputy Counselor and nominating offices for clarification and appropriate handling. The Management Assistant will also develop a constructive relationship with Washington-based program managers to ensure the smooth running of the program.

To qualify for the position, candidates must have completed secondary school and have three years of clerical, administrative, office support, event, or travel management experience in an office setting. They must also have a good working knowledge of English, including speaking, reading, and writing. The Management Assistant will be required to draft diplomatic notes, respond to Uganda government enquiries, and manage visits of officials.
