In Kenya, the UN is supporting human rights training for local authorities to enhance citizen participation in decision-making processes.
The Global Alliance for Human Rights has several initiatives, including youth mobilization, human rights in business and technology, climate action, science, philosophy, sport, and faith. These projects aim to deliver human rights on a daily basis in communities, schools, boardrooms, and parliaments worldwide. The alliance seeks to connect and strengthen existing projects and initiatives, creating a living, buzzing hive of activity that builds on what already exists.
The alliance has seen significant interest since its launch 100 days ago, with over 600 organizations and individuals from various sectors and regions coming forward. The Human Rights Cities network has expanded to more than 120 cities worldwide, and five leading names in sport have become early supporters of the alliance. Twelve outstanding young changemakers have also joined its Youth4Rights Advisory Group.
Volker Türk has invited everyone who believes in fairness, dignity, and respect to join the Global Alliance for Human Rights. He emphasized that the alliance is a platform for people to bring their ideas and energy to promote human rights.
