The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) has introduced an official blue robe and cap for County Sheikhs across the country. The new attire was unveiled at the UMSC Jinja Muslim District Council Headquarters during a ceremony attended by senior Muslim leaders from across Uganda. The Mufti of Uganda, His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, was represented by the Second Deputy Mufti, His Eminence Dr. Hafidh Sheikh Muhammad Haruna Bukenya.

The launch of the official attire for County Sheikhs is part of the UMSC's efforts to establish a standard dress code for Muslim leaders representing the Council. The new attire consists of a blue robe with distinctive silver embroidery, bearing the UMSC logo on the left side of the chest, paired with a special blue-and-silver cap. This move follows the introduction of an official green robe for District Kadhis a few months ago.

According to Sheikh Bukenya, who represented the Mufti at the ceremony, the official habits and cloaks were being introduced as instruments of Muslim leadership and identity within the different administrative structures of the Council. He directed all County Sheikhs to wear the official attire whenever representing UMSC at public and official functions.

The UMSC National Chairman, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Lubega Kisambira, and Secretary for Religious Affairs Sheikh Imran Ssali were among the senior Muslim leaders in attendance. Sheikh Imran Ssali stated that the standardized attire was intended to promote uniformity, identity, effective representation, and dignity among Muslim leaders. He gave County Sheikhs a 30-day deadline to acquire the official attire.

Failure to comply with the directive may result in leaders being denied recognition or permission to represent UMSC. The Council has previously provided distinct official outfits for District Kadhis, comprising a green robe with gold embroidery, a special green-and-gold cap, and a white shawl worn over the left shoulder, bearing the UMSC logo.

UMSC plans to launch official attire for Regional Assistants to the Mufti, the Mufti and his Deputies, as well as all Imams, in the near future. The introduction of the official attire for County Sheikhs is seen as a step towards promoting unity and a sense of belonging among Muslim leaders in Uganda.

The UMSC's efforts to standardize the dress code for Muslim leaders are aimed at promoting a sense of identity and unity among Muslims in Uganda. The Council's initiatives are expected to have a positive impact on the Muslim community, promoting a sense of belonging and cooperation among its members.
