Uganda is participating in the 140th Canton Fair in China, showcasing its agricultural and cultural products to promote export opportunities and connect with potential international buyers. The country's pavilion features key products such as coffee, tea, cocoa, shea butter, and crafts, alongside stories and community information. This participation aims to position Ugandan products in the Chinese and wider international markets.
According to Uganda's Consul General in Guangzhou, Ambassador Judyth "Juju" Nsababera, the first day of the exhibition generated promising business connections. The Ugandan delegation is using the fair not only to display products but also to engage potential partners, identify new markets, and explore opportunities to expand business for Ugandan producers and exporters.
The 140th Canton Fair, running from October 31 to November 4, 2026, covers an exhibition area of 515,000 square meters, with 25,000 exhibition booths and 21 exhibition zones. More than 12,000 exhibitors are participating, including over 3,100 high-quality enterprises. The fair invites buyers from around the world to explore products and share in China's opening-up opportunities and the global celebration of a "Better Life."
For Uganda, participation in the fair provides an opportunity to strengthen commercial links with China while promoting agricultural products, crafts, and other locally produced goods to an international market. Ambassador Nsababera encouraged visitors to attend the Uganda Pavilion and engage with the Ugandan team on potential business and trade opportunities.
The Ugandan exhibition is located at Hall 11.2, J34–35 and K13–14, where visitors can explore Ugandan products and learn more about sourcing from the country. Uganda's presence at the fair also provides an opportunity for exporters to understand international market requirements, establish relationships with buyers, and explore partnerships that could support increased exports.
With the exhibition running until November 4, the Ugandan delegation is expected to continue engaging potential buyers, investors, and business partners as it seeks to turn international exposure into concrete market opportunities for Ugandan products. This participation highlights Uganda's efforts to promote value-added exports and strengthen economic and trade relations between Uganda and China.
The participation further creates greater visibility for Ugandan enterprises in the global marketplace. Uganda's efforts to promote its products at the fair align with its goal of increasing exports and strengthening economic ties with other countries. The fair offers a platform for Ugandan businesses to showcase their products and connect with international buyers.
