The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its team in Entebbe, Uganda. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing aerodrome development plans, ensuring projects are carried out according to approved plans and standards. The UCAA is a corporate body responsible for regulating civil aviation in Uganda, managing Entebbe International Airport and 13 other upcountry aerodromes.
The Senior Civil Engineer will play a key role in business planning and budgeting, preparing inputs and making contributions to departmental business plans, budgets, and reviews. They will also engage in project development, interpreting organizational goals and objectives into project plans, and developing justification and baselines for projects. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant working experience in civil, mechanical, or electrical/electronic engineering practice.
The UCAA requires the Senior Civil Engineer to have a strong background in project management, including preparing detailed cost implications for each project, monitoring project spending against milestones, and documenting all projects in Aerodrome Engineering and Development. The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating stakeholder engagement and development, and ensuring full compliance with procurement and disposal of assets requirements.
To qualify for the position, candidates must have an honors bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering from a recognized academic institution. They must also be a member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) and registered with the Uganda Engineer's Registration Board (ERB). The UCAA is looking for a candidate with strong problem-diagnosis and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to negotiate with high-profile stakeholders.
The Senior Civil Engineer will be expected to participate in human resources management, including attracting, retaining, developing, and motivating staff in their section. They will also be responsible for coordinating preparation of section work plans, assigning tasks, and delegating responsibility and authority within the section. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence and embody the UCAA's core values.
