The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer to join their team in Entebbe, Uganda. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and documenting aerodrome development plans, supervising and evaluating implementation. The UCAA is a corporate body responsible for regulating civil aviation in Uganda, managing Entebbe International Airport and 13 other upcountry aerodromes.
The Civil Engineer will play a key role in the business planning and budgeting process, supporting the preparation of departmental business plans, budgets, and reviews. They will also contribute to the development, implementation, and review of engineering project work-plans. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of relevant working experience in Civil Engineering practice from a reputable organization.
The UCAA requires the Civil Engineer to have an honors bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized academic institution. The candidate must also be a member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) and registered with the Uganda Engineer's Registration Board (ERB). Knowledge of relevant ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and engineering software like CAD and Project Management software is essential.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal relationship skills. They should be adaptable, resilient, and have strong conceptual and analytical skills with attention to detail. The candidate must embody the UCAA core values and be able to influence the desired behavior.
The Civil Engineer will be responsible for project management, including preparing detailed cost implications for each project, monitoring projects against documented milestones, and ensuring compliance with procurement and disposal of assets requirements. They will also participate in project evaluation, monitoring project milestones, and preparing progress reports.
