UGAFODE Microfinance Limited, a registered financial institution in Uganda, has announced a job vacancy for an ICT Security Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for enforcing compliance with all aspects of computer security in the organization, particularly in operationalizing the Cyber Security Strategy, Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Methods. The ICT Security Officer will play a crucial role in protecting the bank's data and ICT systems from cyber threats. The organization was founded in 1994 to provide quality microfinance services and is adherent to the Central Bank's regulations and guidelines.
The ICT Security Officer will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and monitoring UGAFODE's Cyber Security systems, as well as participating in the design and implementation of up-to-date IT standards, policies, guidelines, and architectural principles. The officer will also manage UGAFODE's IT Security systems and tools, such as firewalls, data protection controls, and log analyzers, to ensure they are used optimally. Additionally, the ICT Security Officer will provide training on IT Security Awareness to UGAFODE's personnel to promote good security hygiene.
The ICT Security Officer will serve as the department's representative to support IT security and operational audits by UGAFODE's internal assurance functions or third-party auditors. The officer will also enforce UGAFODE's ICT Change and Incident management activities and processes, ensuring they are in line with the approved IT Policies. Furthermore, the ICT Security Officer will work with ICT staff to ensure that all Audit, Risk, Vulnerability, and compliance findings are appreciated and closed in time.
To qualify for the position, candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a relevant degree from a recognized university. Additionally, candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in an organization of a similar nature, preferably a financial institution, government institution, telecom institution, or consulting firm. Experience in performing risk, business impact, control, and vulnerability assessments, and in defining treatment strategies, is also required.
The ideal candidate should have well-developed IT skills and experience in related jobs in IT, such as a network engineer/administrator, database administrator, systems analyst, applications developer, IT auditing, IT risk analyst, etc. Professional IT Security Certifications, such as CISSP, CEH, CCSP, MSCE, CISA, CISM, etc., and Network certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, are an added advantage. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills are also essential for the position.
The ICT Security Officer will be responsible for maintaining a knowledgebase comprising a technical reference library, security advisories and alerts, information on security trends and practices, and laws and regulations. The officer will also support the Head of Information Security in developing and planning the IT Security section's annual budgets and work plans and execution of the same.
