The Tunisian Solidarity Bank has allocated $30 million in financial credits for small farmers in the form of seasonal loans. These loans will be granted directly by the bank or through small loan associations to prepare for the major crop season and finance the grain season. This initiative aims to support small farmers in obtaining the necessary financing to continue their activities.

The bank has announced a series of new measures to boost the pace of seasonal loan disbursements and support small grain farmers. These measures include automated financing and disbursement of loans for small farmers who have repaid their previous seasonal loans within 15 days of submitting their applications. This streamlined process is expected to facilitate access to financing for small farmers.

In addition to the $30 million allocation, the bank has set aside $5 million to be granted to small farmers through agricultural service cooperatives. This will enable cooperative members to plant grains, based on agreements between the bank and the cooperatives. The bank is also allowing small farmers who have restructured their debts to access seasonal loans for grain cultivation.

The bank has also allocated $4 million to grant loans under the program to support the integrated and sustainable development of the grain system and the emergency food security program. These loans will be granted at a fixed bank interest rate of around 5%, without guarantees or self-financing, and with flexible terms. The loans will be disbursed through supply orders, with 70% of the financing for production inputs and 30% directly to the farmer.

To simplify procedures for obtaining seasonal loans for grain cultivation, the bank has reduced the number of required documents. Applicants will now only need to submit three essential documents: a loan application, a copy of their national identity card, and a document proving land exploitation. The bank has also increased the loan ceiling for small loan associations from $5,000 to $10,000.

According to the bank, these measures aim to support small farmers and enable them to continue their activities. The bank's initiatives are expected to have a positive impact on the agricultural sector and contribute to food security in Tunisia. The bank's efforts to simplify procedures and provide more accessible financing are seen as crucial in supporting small farmers.
