Tunisian Parliament Speaker Ibrahim Boudherbala has vowed to address the issue of unemployed doctors in the country. He made this commitment while receiving a delegation led by Iman Bkouche, a member of the local council in Ez-Zahra and representative of the unemployed doctors, and Hatem Ben Jamai, who is in charge of the file. The meeting took place at the Bardo Palace on Friday.

During the meeting, Boudherbala emphasized the legislative body's readiness to make necessary efforts to support the employment of these competencies within its powers. The Speaker acknowledged the concerns of the unemployed doctors, highlighting the importance of preserving Tunisia's elite and providing them with necessary care, given the value of a doctoral degree as the highest academic qualification in higher education.

The representative of the unemployed doctors, Hatem Ben Jamai, pointed out that the issue has not been resolved radically, and the current approach of competitive exams does not meet the needs of this group due to the low number of required positions in certain specialties. He urged the Parliament to develop a comprehensive employment approach that absorbs these competencies and opens up prospects for their professional integration.

Ben Jamai and Bkouche called on the Parliament to find an inclusive employment solution that utilizes the expertise of doctors in teaching and research. They emphasized that the current situation requires a more effective strategy to address the unemployment issue among doctors.

In response, Boudherbala expressed his understanding of these concerns and reaffirmed his commitment to referring the file to the relevant parliamentary committee to conduct necessary hearings. This move aims to find a suitable solution to the problem of unemployed doctors in Tunisia.

The committee will likely examine the proposals and concerns raised by the representatives of the unemployed doctors. This development comes as Tunisia seeks to strengthen its healthcare sector and make the most of its skilled workforce.
