According to the Tunisian National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI), the country's olive oil exports have seen significant growth in the 2025/2026 campaign. From November 2025 to August 2026, Tunisia exported 381.2 thousand tons of olive oil, valued at 4780.4 million dinars (MD). This represents a 50.8% increase in volume and a 41.2% rise in value compared to the same period in the previous campaign.

The majority of Tunisia's olive oil exports, 85.5%, were in bulk, while 14.5% were packaged. The extra-virgin category accounted for 83.5% of the total volume exported. Packaged olive oil exports increased by 48.7% compared to the previous campaign, reaching 55.4 thousand tons. However, only 19.3% of the total revenue came from packaged olive oil exports.

In August 2026, the average price of olive oil increased by 7.1% compared to the same period in the previous campaign, reaching 13.31 dinars per kilogram (D/kg). Prices varied between 8.41 D/kg and 17.12 D/kg, depending on the category. The ONAGRI report also noted that Tunisian olive oil was exported to over 82 countries during the 2025/2026 campaign.

The European Union was the main market for Tunisian olive oil, accounting for 56.6% of total exports. Spain and Italy were the largest buyers, with 31.9% and 19.8% of the total volume, respectively. North America received 24.4% of exports, primarily to the United States (19.3%) and Canada (5.1%). Asia accounted for 11.5% of exports, mainly to Saudi Arabia (4.9%) and Jordan (3%).

Africa received 3.7% of Tunisia's olive oil exports, with Egypt accounting for 3.1%. The country's organic olive oil exports reached 53 thousand tons, valued at approximately 699.7 MD, during the first 10 months of the 2025/2026 campaign. However, packaged organic olive oil exports made up only 6.3% of the total volume.

The average price of organic olive oil was 13.20 D/kg, ranging from 12.96 D/kg for bulk to 16.74 D/kg for packaged. Italy was the largest importer of Tunisian organic olive oil, accounting for 39% of exports, followed by Spain (26%), the United States (23%), and France (8%).

The growth in Tunisia's olive oil exports is a positive sign for the country's economy, which has faced challenges in recent years. The olive oil sector is a significant contributor to Tunisia's agricultural industry, and the increase in exports is likely to have a positive impact on the country's trade balance.
