The Tunisian Engineers' Association has developed a roadmap aimed at enhancing the country's energy security and preventing a repeat of the challenges experienced during the summer of 2026. According to the association's dean, Mohsen Gharssi, the roadmap was prepared by a team of engineers and experts who analyzed the country's energy situation. The roadmap proposes several practical measures, including recovering available capacity through maintenance work, securing peak period needs, and accelerating self-production of electricity using solar energy. Additionally, the plan involves controlling demand, protecting vital infrastructure, developing networks, and improving storage systems. Gharssi stressed that preparations for the summer of 2027 should begin now, given the limited time available to make decisions and implement maintenance and investment projects.
The Tunisian Engineers' Association does not aim to replace the state, government, or the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company, but rather to offer its expertise and engineering capabilities to help address the challenges facing the energy sector. The association's goal is to transition from the study phase to the implementation phase, turning proposals into decisions, programs, and projects that can be executed and monitored.
