Tunisian Education Minister Nurredine Nouri conducted a working visit to Mahdia governorate on September 26, 2026. The visit covered 10 educational institutions across various delegations, including Bumerdas, Sousse, Jem, Sidi Alwan, Chabba, Qsar Essaf, and Mahdia. The minister's tour aimed to assess the current state of these institutions and identify areas for improvement. In Bumerdas delegation, Nouri ordered the renovation of the Zarata Primary School's fence and the installation of surveillance cameras at Bumerdas Primary School as part of the self-financing program for educational institutions. In Sousse delegation, decisions were made to support Sidi Zid Primary School with surveillance cameras and educational equipment, as well as publishing a call for tenders for the second phase of its maintenance program.
The minister also approved the acceleration of the first phase of the maintenance project for Jaaouana Primary School and allocated necessary funds for the second phase, following a comprehensive development approach. In Jem delegation, Nouri ordered the acceleration of ongoing works at Beni Thabet Primary School and its equipping with surveillance cameras under the self-financing program.
In Sidi Alwan delegation, the minister authorized the acceleration of work on Sidi Alwan Primary School's development, with a total cost exceeding 1.7 million dinars. This includes demolishing and rebuilding the school's fence under a special intervention program. In Chabba delegation, Nouri approved the urgent acceptance of work on Ibn Rushd Institute, with a total cost of 1.985 million dinars.
The minister also made decisions in Qsar Essaf and Mahdia delegations. In Qsar Essaf, he ordered the acceleration of work on Qsar Essaf Preparatory School, with a total cost exceeding 1.23 million dinars. In Mahdia, Nouri authorized the acceleration of work on Mahdia Preparatory School and the inclusion of its second phase.
Additionally, Nouri approved publishing calls for tenders related to rebuilding and renovating fences for 29 educational institutions in Mahdia governorate. These measures aim to improve infrastructure, enhance security, and create better learning conditions.
The minister's visit and subsequent decisions reflect the government's commitment to monitoring educational institutions and prioritizing maintenance, development, and security.
