The Central Bank of Tunisia has set October 1, 2026, as the deadline for banks to launch digital platforms for receiving loan applications on honor, without interest. These platforms will be the sole means of submitting applications. According to Sufian Al-Warimi, a banking expert, individuals and institutions that have previously submitted written requests will need to resubmit their applications through the digital platform.
The digital platform will record the date and time of application submission and provide applicants with a receipt, ensuring that applications are processed in the order they are received. During the initial registration, applicants will not be required to attach documents; instead, they will be requested later if the application is initially approved and proceeds to the file study phase.
The order of application submission is a crucial aspect of the process, along with the applicant's ability to repay the loan. Al-Warimi emphasized that the ability to repay will be a key criterion for banks, which will assess the applicant's financial capacity without requiring collateral. The loan repayment period will not exceed two years, with a possible six-month grace period.
Only banks that made profits in 2025 will be participating in this program. Those that incurred losses during the same year are not eligible to offer these interest-free loans. Interested parties can verify the financial situation of banks by referring to their financial statements published on the website of the Financial Market Authority.
To avoid fraudulent activities, Al-Warimi advised applicants to only use the official websites of banks to access the registration platforms and to be cautious of unofficial links or platforms promoted by unknown entities. Most participating banks have prepared explanatory videos, in coordination with the Financial and Banking Council, which have been published on their official websites.
The loan amounts will vary depending on the applicant type: individuals can apply for up to 5,000 dinars, small projects can receive financing of up to 10,000 dinars, and small and medium-sized enterprises and companies can obtain amounts of up to 25,000 dinars. The loans come with several benefits, including zero interest rates, no complex guarantees, and no study fees.
The program aims to provide accessible financing options to Tunisian individuals and businesses. By offering interest-free loans with flexible repayment terms, the initiative seeks to support economic growth and development in the country. Applicants are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and to carefully review the terms and conditions before submitting their applications.
