Tunisia's Zaghouan region is participating in a traditional crafts exhibition in Tunis, alongside Tozeur, until Saturday. The event, organized by the National Office for the Promotion of Handicrafts, aims to support and promote Tunisian handicrafts. Nine artisans from Zaghouan were selected to participate based on the quality of their products and the unique characteristics of their region.

The exhibition features a variety of traditional crafts, including hand embroidery, leather goods, traditional shoes, herbal and floral distillations, and decorative cages. Artisans will also showcase traditional sweets, such as "kacck al warka," and other local specialties. According to Bthina Al Louz, Regional Delegate for Handicrafts in Zaghouan, these crafts demonstrate the skills and expertise of local artisans, which can be further developed and improved.

The exhibition provides an opportunity for Zaghouan's artisans to showcase their products and promote them both locally and internationally. Al Louz emphasized that the event encourages artisans to develop their skills and diversify their creations. The exhibition also highlights the importance of preserving traditional crafts and promoting Tunisia's rich cultural heritage.

Despite the region's rich cultural heritage, Zaghouan lacks a training center for young people in the handicrafts sector. Additionally, artisans in the region face challenges in finding suitable spaces to display and market their products, due to the long-standing delay in the construction of a handicraft village.

The exhibition is an important platform for Zaghouan's artisans to gain exposure and promote their products. The event is also an opportunity for visitors to learn about Tunisia's traditional crafts and appreciate the skills and expertise of local artisans. The National Office for the Promotion of Handicrafts hopes that the exhibition will contribute to the development of the handicrafts sector in Tunisia.

The handicrafts sector is a significant contributor to Tunisia's economy and cultural identity. The exhibition in Tunis aims to promote Tunisian handicrafts and support local artisans in their efforts to develop and market their products.
