In a significant move to support women victims of violence, a new "Centre of Safety" has been launched in the town of Al-Raqab, in Tunisia's Sidi Bouzid region. The centre, which was opened on Thursday, aims to provide a safe haven for women and their children who have been affected by violence. The centre was established with the support of the Regional Delegation for Women's Affairs, Family, Childhood, and Elderly People in Sidi Bouzid.

The centre has a capacity to accommodate eight women and their children, and offers a range of services including shelter, reception, and psychological support in a safe environment. The centre also provides legal and social accompaniment to survivors, protects their rights, and facilitates access to services. Additionally, the centre aims to empower women economically and promote their independence. The centre is run by the "Women First" association.

According to Hayat Qadri, president of the "Women First" association, the centre has completed all the necessary legal procedures and its staff have undergone training before signing a partnership agreement with the Regional Delegation for Women's Affairs, Family, Childhood, and Elderly People in Sidi Bouzid on September 29. The agreement relates to the management of the centre for the accommodation of women victims of violence in Sidi Bouzid.

The centre is part of a broader programme of "Safety Centres" launched by the Ministry of Women to enhance the protection of women victims of violence and ensure their right to live with dignity and safety. The programme aims to provide a comprehensive support system for women who have been affected by violence, including shelter, psychological support, and economic empowerment.

The launch of the centre has been welcomed by local communities, who have expressed their support for the initiative. The centre is seen as a vital resource for women who have been affected by violence, and is expected to make a significant contribution to reducing the incidence of violence against women in the region.

The centre will provide a range of services, including individual and group counselling, medical care, and assistance with finding employment. The centre will also work with local authorities and organisations to raise awareness about violence against women and to promote a culture of respect and equality.

The "Centre of Safety" in Al-Raqab is a significant step forward in the protection of women's rights in Tunisia, and demonstrates the country's commitment to addressing the issue of violence against women. The centre is a valuable resource for women who have been affected by violence, and will provide them with the support and protection they need to rebuild their lives.
