According to the National Observatory of Agriculture, Tunisia's olive oil exports have seen a significant increase during the first ten months of the 2025/2026 season. A total of 381.2 thousand tons of olive oil were exported, valued at 4780.4 million dinars. This represents a 50.8% increase in quantity and a 41.2% increase in value compared to the same period in the previous season.
The majority of Tunisia's olive oil exports were in the form of bulk oil, accounting for 85.5% of total exports, while packaged olive oil made up 14.5%. Extra virgin olive oil accounted for 83.5% of these exports. In terms of value, packaged olive oil accounted for only 19.3% of total export earnings. The average price of olive oil increased by 7.1% compared to the same period in the previous season.
Tunisia's olive oil exports reached over 82 countries during the first ten months of the 2025/2026 season. The European Union was the largest market, accounting for 56.6% of total exports, with Spain and Italy being the top buyers. The United States and Canada were also significant markets, accounting for 24.4% of total exports. Asia accounted for 11.5% of total exports, with Saudi Arabia and Jordan being the main destinations.
The African market accounted for only 3.7% of Tunisia's olive oil exports, with Egypt being the largest buyer. In terms of organic olive oil exports, Tunisia sold 53 thousand tons, valued at approximately 699.7 million dinars. However, packaged organic olive oil accounted for only 6.3% of total organic olive oil exports.
The average price of organic olive oil was 13.20 dinars per kilogram, ranging from 12.96 dinars per kilogram for bulk oil to 16.74 dinars per kilogram for packaged oil. Italy was the largest buyer of Tunisia's organic olive oil, accounting for 39% of total exports, followed by Spain, the United States, and France.
The significant increase in Tunisia's olive oil exports is a positive sign for the country's economy.
