Tunisia's National Tourism Office will participate in the China Outbound Travel and Tourism Market (COITM) expo, scheduled to take place from October 14 to 16, 2026, in Beijing. This participation aims to enhance Tunisia's presence in the Chinese market and strengthen tourism cooperation between the two countries. The office will showcase Tunisia's tourism resources and products to Chinese travel organizers, demand-based travel service providers, and meeting, incentive, conference, and exhibition operators.

During the expo, the National Tourism Office will provide information on entry procedures to Tunisia, local tourism services, and available support and cooperation opportunities. This will contribute to developing tourism products tailored to the Chinese market and promoting tourism exchange between Tunisia and China. The office will also explore cooperation and partnership opportunities with Chinese tourism professionals.

The waiver of visa requirements for Chinese tourists has been a significant factor in promoting tourism exchange between Tunisia and China. Since September 2023, Chinese citizens with ordinary passports can enter Tunisia without a visa and stay for up to 90 days. In 2025, Tunisia received approximately 28,000 Chinese tourists, representing a 19.3% increase compared to 2024.

The number of Chinese tourists visiting Tunisia has continued to grow, with a 12% increase during the first quarter of 2026. Additionally, the number of Chinese tourists arriving in Tunisia during the Chinese New Year holiday in 2026 increased by 20% compared to the same period in the previous year. Tunisia attaches great importance to the Chinese market and has been organizing promotional activities, hosting Chinese media, influencers, and tourism professionals.

The country is also working to improve services for Chinese tourists and develop Chinese language skills in the tourism sector. The University of Sousse is establishing a new Confucius Institute, which will provide specialized training in Chinese language for tourism and contribute to developing skills in tourism and cultural services.

The COITM expo is a professional platform that brings together representatives from various tourist destinations, travel organizers, and travel service buyers in China. The 2026 edition is expected to feature over 30 tourist destinations, around 200 exhibitors, and approximately 3,000 professionals, visitors, and buyers from China and abroad.

Tunisia's participation in the COITM expo demonstrates its commitment to strengthening tourism cooperation with China and promoting its tourism products in the Chinese market. The country's tourism sector is expected to benefit from the growing demand for outbound tourism from China.
