Tunisia's Ministry of Trade and Export Development has announced that artisans can now export their products via postal service. The initiative is part of the "Easy Export" program, aimed at facilitating exports by small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as artisans. The program provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs with marketable products to export them to foreign markets.
The "Easy Export" program was presented during a regional meeting in Sousse, where trade officials and stakeholders gathered to discuss the new initiative. According to Khabeb Al-Hadhri, Director of E-commerce at the Ministry of Trade and Export Development, the program is designed to overcome obstacles and listen to the concerns of various stakeholders in the field. The program is implemented in partnership with the Tunisian postal service, which has established 11 unified windows to facilitate exports.
The "Easy Export" program is part of a broader initiative to promote e-commerce and digital trade in the Middle East and North Africa region. The program is funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and is implemented by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and the International Trade Centre (ITC). The program aims to support the development of a national e-commerce strategy, in line with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (2027-2031).
The Ministry of Trade and Export Development has also announced that it will provide support to artisans, covering 50% of transportation costs. This move is expected to encourage more artisans to export their products. The "Easy Export" program is expected to run for four years, during which time it will provide support to small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as artisans.
