Tunisia's Ministry of Social Affairs has announced its budget for 2027, with a focus on organizing the job market and social protection. The ministry's budget for 2027 is set at 4.227 billion dinars, with 3.8 billion dinars allocated for interventions. This includes 1.84 billion dinars for social security, 2.12 billion dinars for social promotion and assistance to poor families, and 36.1 million dinars for employment and professional relations.
The ministry plans to continue implementing the law on preventing outsourcing and limiting precarious employment in 2027. This law, which came into effect in 2025, aims to regulate the job market and protect workers' rights. According to the minister, the ministry has already made significant progress in this area, with 102,000 workers in the private sector having their employment status regularized since the law's implementation.
In addition to its efforts to regulate the job market, the ministry is also working to improve social protection and support for vulnerable populations. This includes a program to provide assistance to families with limited income, with 60 million dinars allocated for children under the age of six and 150 million dinars for children between the ages of six and 18.
The ministry is also working to develop new strategies for addressing the needs of Tunisians living abroad. This includes updating methods for supporting Tunisians abroad and encouraging them to initiate projects with economic and social impact. The ministry has allocated 27.7 million dinars for this program.
The minister also highlighted the importance of finding alternative solutions to disputes between employers and employees. To this end, the ministry is preparing a draft law to amend certain provisions of the labor code, as well as a draft law on mediation. The goal is to make interventions by labor inspectors more effective and flexible in resolving professional disputes.
Another key area of focus for the ministry is the development of remote work in the private sector. A draft law is being prepared to regulate remote work, taking into account new forms of work such as freelancing and work through electronic platforms. This is in response to the changing nature of work and the emergence of new professions.
The ministry's budget for 2027 also includes 31.2 million dinars for investment, compared to 25 million dinars in 2026. The minister emphasized that the ministry's priorities include supporting the most vulnerable populations and improving the effectiveness of social programs. The ministry's efforts aim to promote social justice and improve living standards for all Tunisians.
