Tunisia's Ministry of Family, Women, Childhood, and Elderly Affairs has warned of the dangers of excessive screen time for children. According to Linda Saad, head of the Childhood Division at the ministry, excessive screen use can lead to numerous health and psychological risks. She emphasized the importance of direct interaction with children through play, conversation, and encouraging sensory and artistic activities, while reducing screen time.

Saad highlighted that excessive screen use can cause delayed speech and language acquisition, difficulty controlling emotions, social isolation, eye strain, and back and neck pain. She stressed that children under three years old should not be exposed to screens, as this is a critical stage in their development and personality formation.

For children between three and six years old, Saad recommended that parents accompany them during screen use, limiting it to no more than 30 minutes per day. She also advised parents to keep devices out of children's bedrooms and to consult specialists if they notice any unusual symptoms or behaviors.

The Ministry of Family's recommendations aim to promote healthy screen use habits among children. Saad's statements were made during an appearance on the radio program "Yom Saeed" on September 21, 2026. Her comments underscored the need for parents to be aware of the potential risks associated with excessive screen time.

The Ministry of Family has been working to raise awareness about family-related issues. On September 18, 2026, the ministry signed a partnership agreement with the Tunisian Radio Establishment to promote a culture of rights and awareness about family issues through national and regional radio broadcasts.

The agreement aims to inform citizens about the ministry's strategies, programs, and national services, as well as initiatives focused on family and women in various regions. This partnership seeks to facilitate access to information and highlight developmental, economic, and social initiatives targeting families and women.

The Ministry of Family's efforts focus on promoting the well-being of children and families in Tunisia. By raising awareness about the risks of excessive screen time, the ministry aims to encourage responsible behavior among parents and promote healthy habits for children.
