Tunisia's Minister of Equipment, Salah Zwari, has announced that the government is working to accelerate the completion of the third phase of a road duplication project linking the towns of Menzel Temim and Kelibia. The project, which aims to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on the regional road number 27, is expected to be completed by 2027. The minister made the announcement during a working visit to the governorate of Nabeul on October 7, 2026.

The third phase of the project involves the duplication of a 9-kilometer stretch of road, which has already been completed by 50%. The minister stated that the government aims to complete the remaining work and open the road to traffic before the summer of 2024. The project is part of a larger plan to upgrade the regional road number 27, which links the cities of Nabeul and Kelibia.

The first phase of the project, which involved the duplication of a 19-kilometer stretch of road linking the cities of Nabeul and Korba, has already been completed. The second phase, which involves the duplication of a 26-kilometer stretch of road linking Korba and Menzel Temim, is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. The minister noted that the project has faced delays and disruptions in its first two phases.

The road duplication project is a key infrastructure development project in the region, with a total cost of around 170 million dinars. The project is expected to have a significant impact on traffic flow and economic development in the region. The minister emphasized the importance of the project, which will also be complemented by other infrastructure projects, including a project to improve the road network in the city of Korba.

The regional road number 27, which links Nabeul to Kelibia via Korba and Menzel Temim, is a vital transportation artery that connects the center of the governorate to its northern regions. The road is expected to play a key role in facilitating the movement of people and goods, particularly during the summer months when the region attracts large numbers of tourists and visitors.

The government has also announced plans to launch a new project to improve the road network in the city of Korba, which will involve the construction of a new bypass road. The project, which is expected to cost over 70 million dinars, aims to reduce traffic congestion in the city and improve road safety. The minister stated that the project will be launched in 2027, with work expected to begin in the first half of the year.

The road duplication project and other infrastructure developments in the region are expected to have a significant impact on the local economy and improve the quality of life for residents. The government has emphasized its commitment to investing in infrastructure development and improving the road network in the region.
