The Independent Higher Authority for Elections (ISIE) in Tunisia has planned a budget of 57.7 million dinars for 2027. This amount includes 30 million dinars for the first round of legislative elections scheduled for next year. The budget was presented by ISIE's financial controller, Ines Jlidi, during a joint session of the Assembly of People's Representatives and the National Council of Regions and Districts.

The ISIE's own budget for 2027 stands at 27.724 million dinars, which is a slight increase of 0.08% from 27.7 million dinars in 2026. This amount is separate from the envelope for electoral expenses. The budget will be allocated as follows: 15.820 million dinars for salaries, 7.235 million dinars for management expenses, 1.125 million dinars for intervention expenses, and 3.544 million dinars for investment expenses.

The financial controller emphasized that the budget project aims to preserve the stability of ISIE's expenses and direct investments towards actual priorities to ensure the organization of elections in the best conditions. The ISIE based its budget forecasts on several axes, including preserving the quality of the electoral process, digitizing operations, results, and data, safeguarding the institution's memory, and developing human resources.

For 2027, the ISIE has planned an investment program worth 3.544 million dinars for four projects. These projects focus on developing its infrastructure and real estate portfolio, acquiring equipment, digital transformation, and installing photovoltaic systems in its offices. Additionally, 15 million dinars have been set aside for emergency and unallocated expenses, which can be mobilized as needed.

The ISIE's budget for 2027 reflects its efforts to ensure the smooth conduct of elections and enhance its operational capabilities. The authority's plans also align with its goal of improving the electoral process through technology and better resource management. The allocation for salaries and management expenses indicates a focus on maintaining a stable and efficient workforce.

The presentation of the ISIE's budget to the relevant committees in the Assembly of People's Representatives and the National Council of Regions and Districts highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in the electoral process. The committees' review of the budget will ensure that the allocated funds are used efficiently and effectively.

The approved budget will enable the ISIE to carry out its mandate and organize the upcoming legislative elections in a transparent and fair manner. The authority's efforts to prioritize its investments and manage its expenses will contribute to the success of the electoral process and enhance public trust in the institution.
