The head of Tunisia's Rapid Rail Network (RFR) company, Karim El Kadri, announced that all work on the high-speed rail project will be completed by October 2027. Recently, heavy rainfall caused flooding in a tunnel in the Roumthia neighborhood. El Kadri explained that despite operating at full capacity, the pumping system was overwhelmed by the large amounts of rainwater and strong winds, which caused blockages in the drainage system. The flooding highlighted the importance of proper maintenance and upkeep of the infrastructure.
El Kadri emphasized that prompt intervention and surface cleaning of the drainage system helped restore the water flow and reduce the water level within hours. He called on citizens and local authorities to work together to maintain the cleanliness of the environment and prevent future blockages.
