Tunisia's Export Promotion Center has started a series of consultative meetings with different exporting sectors, professional structures, and stakeholders in the export system. The goal is to identify priority markets and programs, and to enrich the national promotional program for 2027. This initiative is part of the preparations for the National Foreign Trade Council. The first phase of these consultations took place from September 15 to 18, 2026.
The consultations were supervised by the Center's General Director, Mourad Ben Hussein, and involved representatives from sectoral structures, professional unions, exporting institutions, and stakeholders from the banking sector, transportation, insurance, and others. The meetings focused on evaluating the achievements of promotional activities in 2026, reviewing the proposed program for trade events in 2027, and identifying the needs and priorities of various sectors.
The first phase covered several sectors, including mechanical and electrical industries, public works and building materials, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, textiles, clothing, leather, and footwear, as well as traditional industries and higher education and vocational training. These meetings provided an opportunity to listen to the concerns of exporting institutions and identify the main obstacles and structural and situational challenges they face in foreign markets.
The consultations also aimed to tailor promotional activities to the needs of sectors and international market trends. Mourad Ben Hussein stated that the Center is completing new procedures related to the restructuring of the Export Promotion Fund, which will enhance support mechanisms for promotional programs and activities directed towards promising sectors.
Ben Hussein also highlighted special promotional programs targeting products with high export potential, such as olive oil and dates. The goal is to intensify promotional efforts and target new markets with significant growth potential. The second phase of consultations will take place next week, covering the agricultural and food industries, communication technologies, and meetings with several professional organizations.
The consultations are expected to lead to the inclusion of practical proposals in the 2027 national promotional program, enhancing the effectiveness of planned activities and ensuring they are more aligned with the needs of exporting sectors and external market trends. The Export Promotion Center's efforts aim to support Tunisian institutions in entering new foreign markets and capitalizing on untapped export opportunities.
The outcome of these consultations will be crucial in shaping Tunisia's export strategy for 2027. By engaging with various stakeholders, the Export Promotion Center can ensure that the promotional program is well-informed and effective in promoting Tunisian exports.
