Tunisia's Export Promotion Center has started a series of consultative meetings with different exporting sectors, professional structures, and stakeholders in the export system. The goal is to identify priority markets and programs, enriching the national promotional program for 2027, in preparation for the National Foreign Trade Council. The first phase of these meetings took place from September 15 to 18, 2026.
The consultations focused on evaluating the achievements of promotional activities in 2026, reviewing components of the proposed national program for commercial events in 2027, and identifying needs and priorities for each sector. Discussions also centered on new markets and destinations that can be targeted in the coming period. The meetings covered various sectors, including mechanical and electrical industries, public works, building materials, healthcare, pharmaceutical industries, textiles, clothing, leather, and footwear.
These meetings provided an opportunity for the Export Promotion Center to listen to concerns of exporting companies, identify significant obstacles, and understand structural and situational challenges they face in foreign markets. This will help tailor promotional activities to sector needs and international market developments. According to Murad Ben Hussein, the center is completing new procedures for restructuring the Export Promotion Fund.
The restructuring aims to enhance support mechanisms for promotional programs and activities directed towards promising sectors. It also seeks to assist Tunisian companies in entering new foreign markets and capitalizing on untapped export opportunities. Ben Hussein highlighted special promotional programs for products with significant export potential, such as olive oil and dates.
The second phase of consultations will continue next week, covering the agricultural materials and food industries sector, communication technologies, and meetings with the Tunisian Textile and Clothing University. Other engagements include the National Chambers of Industry and Commerce, export consultants, and various joint chambers of commerce and industry.
These consultations are expected to lead to practical proposals within the 2027 national promotional program, enhancing the effectiveness of scheduled activities and ensuring they align with the needs of exporting sectors and external market developments. The Export Promotion Center's efforts aim to boost Tunisia's export capabilities and explore new markets.
The center's initiatives are crucial for Tunisia's economic development, as they seek to increase the country's export base and improve its competitiveness in the global market. By engaging with various stakeholders and sectors, the center can develop targeted promotional strategies that address specific needs and opportunities.
