Tunisia's Export Promotion Center has started a series of consultative meetings with different exporting sectors, professional structures, and stakeholders in the export system. The goal is to identify priority markets and programs to enhance the national promotional program for 2027. This is part of the preparations for the National Foreign Trade Council meeting. The first phase of these meetings took place from September 15 to 18, 2026.
The meetings were attended by representatives from sectoral structures, professional unions, exporting institutions, and stakeholders from the banking system, transportation, insurance, and other sectors. Discussions focused on evaluating the achievements of promotional activities in 2026, reviewing the proposed national program for commercial events in 2027, and identifying needs and priorities for each sector. Participants also discussed new markets and destinations that can be targeted in the coming period.
The first phase included sectors such as mechanical and electrical industries, public works and building materials, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, textiles, clothing, leather, and footwear, traditional industries, and higher education and vocational training. These meetings provided an opportunity to listen to the concerns of exporting institutions and identify structural and situational obstacles they face in foreign markets.
According to Murad Ben Hussein, the Director-General of the Export Promotion Center, the center is completing new procedures related to the restructuring of the Export Promotion Fund. This aims to enhance support mechanisms for promotional programs and activities directed towards promising sectors and support Tunisian institutions in entering new foreign markets.
Ben Hussein also mentioned special promotional programs for products with export potential, such as olive oil and dates. The goal is to intensify promotional efforts and target new markets with significant growth potential. The second phase of consultations will include the agricultural materials and food industries sector, the communication technologies sector, and meetings with various professional organizations.
The consultations are expected to lead to practical proposals for the 2027 national promotional program, enhancing the effectiveness of planned activities and ensuring they align with the needs of exporting sectors and international market developments. The Export Promotion Center's efforts aim to support Tunisian exports and promote the country's economic growth.
The center's initiatives are crucial for Tunisia's economic development, as exports play a significant role in the country's GDP. The consultations will help identify areas for improvement and opportunities for growth, ultimately contributing to the country's economic stability and prosperity.
