The Tunisian government is pressing on with the development of the Ennour II neighborhood in Kairouan, a project that is part of the second generation of the program to rehabilitate and integrate housing areas. This initiative is being carried out by the Urban Rehabilitation and Renovation Agency (ARRU) over a period of 720 days. The project is financed by several entities, including the Tunisian state, the French Development Agency, the European Union, and the European Investment Bank, with a total budget of 27 million dinars.

According to Amor Rahmouni, the regional director of ARRU, the project involves the renovation of public infrastructure in several neighborhoods, including El Manar, Fath 1, Fath 2, Essalem 1, and Essalem 2. The scope of the work includes the asphalting of 27 kilometers of roads, improving the coverage of sanitation networks over 5 kilometers, and extending the water distribution network over 8 kilometers.

In addition to the infrastructure upgrades, the project also includes the installation of 986 electric poles equipped with energy-efficient lamps. This comprehensive approach aims to significantly improve living conditions for residents in these neighborhoods. The ongoing work is part of a broader effort to enhance urban areas across Tunisia.

The development of Ennour II and other neighborhoods is a priority for the Tunisian government, which is seeking to address urban challenges and provide better services to its citizens. The involvement of international partners, such as the European Union and the French Development Agency, underscores the importance of this project and the commitment of the international community to support Tunisia's development efforts.

Once completed, the project is expected to have a positive impact on the daily lives of residents in the Ennour II neighborhood and surrounding areas. Improved infrastructure, including roads, sanitation, and water supply, will contribute to a healthier and more sustainable living environment. Furthermore, the project will lay the groundwork for future development initiatives in the region.

The ARRU's efforts to rehabilitate and integrate housing areas are part of a larger strategy to promote urban development and social inclusion in Tunisia. By focusing on the needs of specific neighborhoods and communities, the agency aims to create more cohesive and resilient urban environments. The success of these initiatives will be closely watched by stakeholders and citizens alike.

Looking ahead, Rahmouni indicated that the rehabilitation of the Bouzgam village is slated to begin soon, further expanding the scope of ARRU's work in the region. With ongoing projects and future plans in place, the agency is poised to make a lasting impact on Tunisia's urban landscape.
