The Tunisian Ministry of Health has taken a significant step towards upgrading the Douz Local Hospital in the Qibili region. On Thursday, the Regional Health Administration in Qibili inaugurated a new outpatient department at the hospital, costing approximately one million dinars. This development is part of a broader plan to transform the hospital into a regional hospital, enhancing healthcare services for the local population.
The new outpatient department offers medical services in five specialties: cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, clinical hematology, and psychiatry. Additionally, the department provides general medicine and dentistry services, along with supplementary examinations, including electrocardiogram and fetal monitoring, as well as a pediatric nebulization unit. The department also features a reception and registration area and an external pharmacy.
According to Qibili Regional Health Director, Jouhar El Mkani, the project's total cost is distributed among construction, ordinary equipment, and specialized medical equipment for each department. The construction costs exceeded 600,000 dinars, while over 200,000 dinars were allocated for ordinary equipment. The remaining funds were used to acquire specialized medical equipment for each department.
The upgrade of Douz Local Hospital is part of a larger plan to improve healthcare infrastructure in the region. The hospital's transformation into a regional hospital aims to provide more comprehensive and specialized medical services to the local population. This development is expected to have a positive impact on healthcare outcomes in the region.
The new outpatient department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a reception and registration area, consultation rooms, and a pharmacy. The department is staffed by qualified healthcare professionals, ensuring that patients receive high-quality medical care. The hospital's administration has also implemented measures to ensure the department's smooth operation and efficient management.
Despite the progress made, some essential components are still needed to achieve the goal of transforming Douz Local Hospital into a regional hospital. These include an operating theater, energy and electrical transformer projects, and the installation of an oxygen tank. The Regional Health Administration in Qibili is working to address these gaps and complete the hospital's upgrade.
The upgrade of Douz Local Hospital reflects the Tunisian government's commitment to improving healthcare services and infrastructure in the country.
