The Biotechnology Center in Borj Cedria, a technological hub in Tunisia, has obtained the international quality certification ISO 9001:2015. This recognition encompasses all structures within the center, including laboratories, research units, administrative services, and technical support units. The certification was awarded following an external audit conducted by the international certification body "Robial Sert" on August 31.

According to Dr. Shukri Masoud, General Director of the Biotechnology Center, the certification is a testament to the center's commitment to quality and continuous improvement. This achievement enhances the center's reputation as a leading scientific and research pole in Tunisia. The center's quality approach and continuous improvement efforts have earned it this international recognition.

The certification process involved a rigorous audit, which resulted in the recommendation to award the center the ISO 9001:2015 certification. This standard is a globally recognized benchmark for quality management systems. The center's achievement demonstrates its dedication to delivering high-quality services and products.

Jawaher Riyahi, the center's integrated quality manager, emphasized that obtaining this certification puts the center's work within a clear framework, defining scientific tools for evaluating various works, programs, and objectives. This achievement is a significant step in the center's development, aligning its work with international standards.

The Biotechnology Center in Borj Cedria has made significant strides in research and development, with 26 national projects since its inception. The center is ranked 29th among research centers in the Middle East and North Africa, fourth nationally in scientific research, and second among research centers in Tunisia.

The center comprises 73 research professors, 58 technical and administrative staff, and six research laboratories. These laboratories focus on various areas, including plant resistance to environmental stresses, legumes and sustainable agricultural systems, and biotechnology. The center also has specialized units for supporting scientific research and technology transfer.

Previously, the center's "Research Support and Technology Transfer" unit became the first research unit under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to obtain the 17025 IEC/ISO accreditation in olive oil analysis. This achievement demonstrates the center's commitment to quality and its efforts to develop innovative solutions.
