Tunisia's proposed budget for tourism and traditional industries in 2027 is 176.8 million dinars, up from 161.7 million dinars in 2026, representing a 9.3% increase. This does not include self-generated resources of institutions, according to Tourism Minister Sufian Tka. The budget was discussed during a parliamentary hearing on November 3, 2026.

The increased budget will be allocated to various expenses, including leasing, management, interventions, and investments. Leasing expenses are expected to rise from 68.430 million dinars in 2026 to 75.052 million dinars in 2027, a 9.7% increase. This rise is attributed to increased wages for state employees and local authorities, as well as the financial impact of recruiting 38 new employees in 2027.

Management expenses will increase by 2.9% to 16.640 million dinars, up from 16.170 million dinars in 2026. The Tourism Ministry has worked to rationalize these expenses by controlling costs related to materials, equipment, and energy consumption. This has limited growth to less than 3%.

Intervention expenses are budgeted at 70.470 million dinars. The minister stated that efforts have been made to control certain expenses, such as the purchase of transportation means and construction of new buildings. Additionally, expenses carried over from previous years have been reduced by 2 million dinars.

Investment allocations have significantly increased from 5.960 million dinars in 2026 to 14.600 million dinars in 2027, a 145% rise. Investment projects include completing restoration and maintenance work on the Sidi Bou Said recreational port, conducting studies and maintenance work on the Marina Monastir recreational port, and developing an information application to track ship movements in recreational ports.

The Sidi Bou Said project is valued at 13 million dinars, while the Monastir project is estimated at 13.4 million dinars. This project is part of a program to repair coastal damage caused by storms on January 19 and 20, 2026. An additional 300,000 dinars has been allocated to develop an information application aimed at streamlining administrative procedures related to maritime navigation.

The 2027 tourism program includes two sub-programs, three strategic objectives, seven performance indicators, six activities, three operational units, and four public stakeholders. Strategic objectives focus on diversifying tourism offerings, improving service quality, stimulating demand, and enhancing competitiveness of traditional industry products.
