Tunisia's Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdel Hafiz, announced that 99.7% of the ministry's 2027 intervention expenditures will be dedicated to development projects. These projects include financial transfers to states to implement regional and local development programs, as well as financing investments for public institutions under supervision. The minister made this announcement during a joint session of the Parliament's committees.

The total intervention expenditures for 2027 are estimated at 539.825 million dinars, which accounts for 68% of the ministry's total budget. These expenditures will be primarily allocated to transfers for states and public institutions, as well as financing studies and equipment. This represents a decrease of 191.352 million dinars, or 26.17%, compared to the 2026 financial law.

The decrease in intervention expenditures is mainly due to the transfer of part of the regional development program credits to investment expenditures, as part of the redistribution of expenditures within the 2027 state budget project. The remaining 0.3% of intervention expenditures will be allocated to regular interventions, including grants to associations and contributions to international organizations.

The 2027 budget for the Ministry of Economy and Planning is set at 994.1 million dinars in commitment credits, representing a 10.9% increase compared to 2026. However, the payment credits are estimated at 794.1 million dinars, marking an 11.3% decrease compared to 2026. The budget is distributed across various programs, with sectoral development support accounting for 78%.

The sectoral development support program will receive the largest share of the budget, with 621.245 million dinars allocated. This program is closely linked to the implementation of sectoral and regional development programs. The budget also includes allocations for regional development and international cooperation, amounting to 8%.

The 2027 budget also provides for an increase in rental and operating expenses. Rental expenses are expected to reach 82.045 million dinars, up from 79.550 million dinars in 2026. Operating expenses will also rise to 14.442 million dinars, representing a 1.67% increase compared to 2026.

The budget allocations reflect the government's focus on promoting regional and local development, as well as supporting sectoral development programs. The Ministry of Economy and Planning's budget for 2027 aims to drive economic growth and improve living standards in Tunisia.
