Tunisia's External Investment Promotion Agency office in Madrid, in collaboration with the Tunisian Embassy in Spain, recently organized an exploratory mission to the regions of Murcia and Alicante. The mission, which took place on September 14 and 15, aimed to promote Tunisia's investment opportunities and explore partnership possibilities with Spanish companies operating in the food industry. This initiative is part of the agency's efforts to attract new foreign investments and strengthen partnerships between Tunisian and international companies.
The mission targeted two regions that are prominent in Spain's agricultural and food industries. The delegation met with several economic officials and executives of industrial companies, as well as conducted on-site visits to production units. In the Alicante region, the agency's office delegation met with the President of the Chamber of Commerce and other officials to discuss organizing joint activities to promote investment and partnership opportunities in Tunisia for local economic institutions.
The mission also included working meetings with executives of leading Spanish companies and visits to industrial units to explore possibilities for establishing partnerships and developing joint ventures between Tunisia and the targeted Spanish regions. The delegation visited the Sanchis Mira SA company, a industrial group based in Alicante, which is a major player in the food industry and distribution in Spain. The visit provided an opportunity to present Tunisia's industrial fabric and discuss cooperation and partnership opportunities with the group.
In Murcia, the delegation met with executives of the Conservas El Raal group, which specializes in processing and preparing plant-based products. Over 85% of the group's production is exported to European and American markets. During the meeting, a presentation was made on Tunisia's investment opportunities, and the group's General Manager expressed interest in Tunisia's capabilities in agricultural inputs.
Discussions during the mission focused on Tunisia's strategic advantages, including its proximity to European markets and competitive production costs. These factors can contribute to enhancing the Spanish group's ability to develop its activities and ensure its sustainability. The mission highlighted the importance of the targeted markets, with Murcia being one of the most prominent agricultural regions in Europe.
The Alicante region boasts a high-value-added industrial fabric, with over 2,300 companies operating in the food industry, and exports valued at approximately 2.33 billion euros. The mission aimed to promote Tunisia's investment opportunities and explore partnership possibilities with Spanish companies, particularly in sectors with high added value and potential for integration into global value chains.
The External Investment Promotion Agency's efforts to promote Tunisia's investment opportunities and strengthen partnerships with international companies are crucial for attracting new foreign investments and promoting economic growth. The agency's initiatives are expected to contribute to the development of Tunisia's economy and enhance its competitiveness in the global market.
