Tunisia's National Tourism Office is participating in the 2026 Beijing Inbound and Outbound Tourism Fair, taking place from October 14 to 16, 2026. The event aims to enhance Tunisia's tourism presence in the Chinese market and foster cooperation between the two countries. During the fair, the office will showcase Tunisia's tourism resources and products to Chinese travel organizers, service providers, and meeting, incentive, conference, and exhibition tourism operators.

The National Tourism Office will provide information on entry procedures to Tunisia, local tourism services, and available support and cooperation opportunities. This will contribute to developing tourism products tailored to the Chinese market and promoting exchanges between the two countries. The visa exemption policy for Chinese tourists, which came into effect in September 2023, is also expected to support tourism exchanges.

The visa exemption policy allows Chinese citizens with ordinary passports to enter Tunisia without a visa and stay for up to 90 days. In 2025, Tunisia welcomed approximately 28,000 Chinese tourists, representing a 19.3% increase compared to 2024. During the first quarter of 2026, the number of Chinese tourists grew by 12%. Chinese tourists visiting Tunisia during the 2026 Chinese New Year holidays increased by 20% compared to the same period in the previous year.

Tunisia attaches great importance to the Chinese market and has been organizing promotional activities, hosting Chinese media, influencers, and tourism professionals. The country is working to improve services for Chinese tourists and develop competencies in tourist guidance in Chinese. The University of Sousse is establishing a new Confucius Institute to provide specialized training in the Chinese language for tourism and contribute to developing skills in tourism and culture services.

The COITM fair is a professional platform that brings together representatives of various tourist destinations with Chinese travel organizers and travel service buyers. The 2026 edition is expected to gather representatives from over 30 tourist destinations, around 200 exhibitors, and approximately 3,000 professionals, visitors, and buyers from China and abroad.

The participation of the National Tourism Office in the fair is part of Tunisia's efforts to strengthen its presence in the Chinese market and promote tourism cooperation between the two countries. The office's presence will help to increase awareness of Tunisia's tourism offerings and attract more Chinese tourists to the country.

The growth in Chinese tourism to Tunisia is a positive trend for the country's tourism industry. With the continued efforts of the National Tourism Office to promote Tunisia's tourism products and services, the country is likely to attract even more Chinese tourists in the coming years.
