A medical caravan was held in Hafouz, Tunisia, on September 26, 2026, providing medical services to over 250 people. According to Qairouan Regional Health Director, Jamal Al-Marabit, the caravan provided a range of medical services, including consultations, examinations, and diagnostic tests. The mobile unit for breast cancer screening allowed for on-site examinations and referrals for further testing. Ten suspected breast cancer cases were detected during the morning session, and these individuals were referred for further examination.
The National Family and Human Habitat Observatory (Diwan FM) participated in the caravan, providing clinical services and ultrasound and mammography imaging through its mobile unit. According to Qairouan Regional Delegate, Abdullah Al-Jalasi, the observatory's participation included providing obstetrics and gynecology services, as well as ultrasound and mammography imaging.
In addition to the medical caravan, a scientific day was organized for medical and paramedical staff, focusing on topics such as diabetes care, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and medical certificate writing. The program was developed in coordination with the Qairouan Regional Health Administration and aimed to update knowledge and address local healthcare needs.
The medical caravan and scientific day were part of a broader program aimed at providing healthcare services and promoting medical education in the region. According to Mohamed Ben Diab, Dean of the Ibn Jazzar College of Medicine in Sousse, the program covers several governorates, including Sousse, Qairouan, Sidi Bouzid, and Kasserine.
