The Tunisian banking and financial council has announced the launch of a new platform for registration in the 'Loan on Honor' system, starting Thursday. This system, established by decree number 148 of 2026, aims to provide financial support to individuals, small project owners, small and medium-sized enterprises, and non-profit organizations. The loan system offers financing without burdening borrowers with high interest rates or complex guarantees.

The 'Loan on Honor' system offers various loan amounts based on the nature of the activity and the needs of the beneficiaries. Individuals can receive financing of up to 5,000 dinars to meet personal and consumer expenses. Small project owners can obtain financing of up to 10,000 dinars to support their professional activities. Small and medium-sized enterprises and non-profit organizations can receive financing of up to 25,000 dinars to enhance their financial balance and support their investment programs.

The 'Loan on Honor' system is based on a set of direct facilitations aimed at easing access to financing. These facilitations include a zero percent interest rate, a complete exemption from bank interest and file study fees or additional commissions, and the abolition of guarantees. Banks will not require personal guarantees or collateral from borrowers. The repayment period is extended to two years, with a possible six-month grace period.

The banking council has emphasized that the processing of files will be based on the principle of priority according to the order of registration through a dedicated electronic platform. All banks are required to launch and operate this platform starting October 1, 2026, to ensure transparency and equal opportunities for all applicants. The council has also stated that banks are committed to responding to loan requests within a period not exceeding 10 working days from the date of submission.

The 'Loan on Honor' system is designed to provide financial support to a wide range of individuals and entities. The system aims to facilitate access to financing without imposing heavy burdens on borrowers. The banking council has launched an explanatory video on its official Facebook page to shed light on the practical procedures for benefiting from this system.

The decree establishing the 'Loan on Honor' system was issued on July 23, 2026, as part of the reform of banking facilities and the check system. The system is expected to provide financial support to small project owners, small and medium-sized enterprises, and non-profit organizations, which often face difficulties in accessing financing.

The launch of the 'Loan on Honor' platform is expected to have a positive impact on the Tunisian economy by providing financial support to individuals and entities. The system's facilitations, including the zero percent interest rate and the abolition of guarantees, are expected to encourage borrowers to apply for loans and invest in their projects.
