Tunisia's Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Obaid, announced the launch of a series of regional meetings to promote the 'Easy Export' program. The program aims to facilitate exports for small and medium enterprises and artisans through the postal network. Obaid emphasized that the program is part of Tunisia's efforts to develop its foreign trade system, digitalize its services, and expand its base of exporting enterprises.
The regional meetings will take place in Tunis, Sousse, Sfax, Gabes, and Kef, providing a platform for direct communication with enterprises and economic stakeholders. The meetings will introduce the program's various stages and procedures, answer questions, and address concerns. Obaid highlighted the importance of adopting a regional approach to ensure equal opportunities for accessing export services.
The 'Easy Export' program goes beyond simplifying procedures, aiming to transform the export culture in Tunisia. Obaid stated that exporting is not exclusive to large enterprises, but an opportunity for all enterprises with marketable and competitive products. He also noted that Tunisia has approximately 960,000 small and medium enterprises, representing over 80% of the national economic fabric and contributing more than 50% to the GDP.
Obaid added that Tunisia is working to modernize its foreign trade system by simplifying and digitalizing administrative procedures. He mentioned several projects, including the development of a unified window for foreign trade and the update of the customs information system. The 'Easy Export' program is part of a project financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Yassine Bachouche, Director of E-commerce at the Tunisian Post and head of the 'Easy Export' project, reported that 71 enterprises have joined the program since its relaunch in October 2025. He stated that 90% of these enterprises operate in traditional industries and food industries, and have sent around 6,200 postal parcels abroad, with the United States accounting for 60% of the total.
The 'Easy Export' program provides solutions to support beneficiaries in export operations and improve their competitiveness internationally through the postal network. Habib Hadjri, Director of E-commerce Development at the Ministry of Trade, explained that the program offers a grant covering up to 50% of postal transportation costs related to exports, as well as a unified window and an electronic portal with necessary information and procedures.
