Tunisia's Minister of Equipment and Housing, Slah Zouari, recently visited the Nabeul governorate to inspect several ongoing infrastructure projects. The visit aimed to assess the progress of projects related to road construction and flood protection. Zouari stated that the governorate is home to numerous projects worth over 250 million dinars. These projects include the construction of bridges and roads, which are expected to significantly improve the region's infrastructure.

The minister highlighted that one of the main objectives of his visit was to examine the state of progress of several projects and ensure that contractors adhere to their commitments. He emphasized that the Ministry of Equipment has implemented an intervention program to repair damages caused by floods earlier in 2026. This program covers various affected areas in several delegations and includes 29 intervention projects on roads and tracks, as well as flood protection projects, totaling approximately 66 million dinars.

According to Zouari, the progress rate of these projects varies between 30% and over 50%, with an expected completion date before the end of the current year. He stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of these projects and ensure rigorous monitoring to prevent future floods. The Ministry of Equipment and regional authorities have reportedly mobilized all necessary resources to ensure the timely completion of these projects.

During his visit, Zouari inspected the repair works at the intersection of regional roads 41 and 26 in Soliman, which were damaged by floods. He also examined the progress of the regional road 128 project, connecting Aïn Oktor to Korbous, spanning 2.5 kilometers, with a total cost exceeding 100 million dinars. The project is nearing completion, with a progress rate of over 90%.

The minister emphasized the importance of the Aïn Oktor-Korbous road project, which will contribute to the region's socio-economic development by improving connectivity and promoting tourism, particularly in Korbous, known for its thermal springs. He expressed his department's commitment to completing ongoing projects and allocating new funds for future initiatives.

Zouari called on citizens to adopt responsible behavior and avoid littering in watercourses, highlighting the importance of cooperation in flood prevention efforts. He also stressed the need for regular maintenance and cleaning of watercourses to mitigate the risk of floods. The minister's visit aimed to inspect several sites requiring interventions, which may be programmed in the 2027 budget.

The Ministry of Equipment and Housing is working to finalize ongoing projects and allocate new funds for future initiatives under the 2027 budget or the 2026-2030 development plan. The successful completion of these infrastructure projects is expected to have a positive impact on the region's economic growth and improve the quality of life for local residents.
