Tunisia is set to host an international workshop on "Marketing and Global Promotion of Dates: Best Practices and Success Models" from September 30 to October 1, 2026. The event is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, the International Dates Council, and the Joint Professional Group for Dates. The workshop will be held at a hotel in the capital city, Tunis.
The workshop will be inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Azzedine Ben Cheikh, and will be attended by the Executive Director of the International Dates Council, Her Royal Highness Princess Sarah bint Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Representatives from member countries, public institutions, private sector companies, experts, professionals, and stakeholders in the date industry will also be in attendance.
The workshop aims to explore ways to enhance the presence of dates in global markets and exchange experiences on best practices in marketing, promotion, and export. The event will feature panel discussions on accessing international markets, quality requirements, compliance with standards, marketing, and export. The program will also include meetings to foster cooperation and partnerships among participants.
On the second day of the workshop, participants will visit a date conditioning and export unit belonging to the VACPA company in the Beni Khalad region of Nabeul governorate. This will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about the company's experience in date conditioning, valorization, and export.
The workshop is taking place at a time when the date sector is a significant component of Tunisia's agricultural activity, particularly in terms of exports. Developing marketing and promotion mechanisms and increasing the added value of the product are key to supporting the competitiveness of Tunisian dates in external markets.
The event is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to share experiences, explore opportunities for collaboration, and identify ways to improve the marketing and promotion of dates globally. With the participation of experts and professionals from various countries, the workshop is likely to generate valuable insights and recommendations for the date industry.
The International Dates Council, which is co-organizing the workshop, plays a crucial role in promoting the global date industry. The council's efforts aim to enhance the production, trade, and consumption of dates worldwide.
