The fifth edition of the National Book Fair of Tunisia (FNLT) was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs from October 23 to November 1, 2026, at the Chedly Klibi Culture City. The event drew a large audience of readers, book lovers, and book professionals. Many parents accompanied their children to the fair, seeking to enrich their family libraries.
The organizing committee, led by Dr. Taoufik Grira, Director General of the Tunis Institute of Translation, prepared a rich program for this session, themed "Read... life will be sunny." On the first day of the book festival, the list of winners of poetry, short story, short story, and scientific and pedagogical book prizes for children was announced, each worth 10,000 dinars.
This edition brought together 66 publishers offering over 6,000 titles, with a special "Publishers' Day" and discounts of up to 50% for the public. To encourage children to read and take an interest in books, the organizing committee organized daily excursions for primary and preparatory school students from different regions of the country.
The students from primary schools in different regions were invited to share experiences and discuss a subject drawn from a story or a lived situation. The goal was to popularize socio-cultural concepts and civilizational notions. There were also children's shows, projections, theater performances, creation and recycling workshops, and a "Digital Corner" to familiarize children with modern communication tools.
The event also paid tribute to poet Sadok Charaf Abou Wejdane, artist-painter Raouf Gara, and writer and researcher Taoufik Bachrouch, all from Nabeul. Other topics were proposed to the public during these colloquia, touching on translation, publishing, and children's literature, with many testimonials that enriched the debates.
In addition, book signing sessions took place during these days, where book lovers and interested readers could discover new publications and experience direct exchanges with writers. The Nabeul governorate was chosen as the host governorate for this session, with five daily excursions from different regions and two others from the governorate.
The event provided a platform for promoting reading and literature in Tunisia, with a focus on children's literature and encouraging young readers to develop a love for books. The fair also highlighted the importance of translation, publishing, and literature in the country's cultural landscape.
