Tunisia's Director of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Khobab Al-Hadhri, has emphasized the importance of e-commerce in digitizing handicraft businesses and enabling them to market their products online. This move aims to open up new opportunities for Tunisian handicrafts to reach international markets beyond the local one. Al-Hadhri made these remarks during a workshop on the sidelines of the third edition of the Articrea professional fair.

The Tunisian government has introduced several mechanisms to facilitate the marketing and export of traditional industry products. Notable initiatives include "Easy Export" and "Raedat Store", as well as a system for exporting traditional industry products to foreign customers. These platforms are designed to make it easier for artisans to sell their products abroad.

The growth of e-commerce offers artisans the chance to move beyond relying on foreign tourists or local customers. The internet provides a platform for promoting and selling products directly to international customers, utilizing electronic payment methods, logistics services, and the Tunisian postal network. This shift is expected to increase the visibility and reach of Tunisian handicrafts.

The "Easy Export" program is a key initiative that enables artisans to deliver their goods to foreign customers through e-commerce. This program aims to facilitate export operations and create new channels for Tunisian handicraft products in international markets. By leveraging e-commerce, artisans can now access a broader customer base.

Protecting handicraft products from counterfeiting and intellectual property infringement is a significant concern when showcasing products online. To address this, several institutions, including the National Institute for Standards and Industrial Property and the Tunisian Society for Copyright and Related Rights, provide mechanisms to safeguard the rights of product owners and brands.

These institutions offer artisans the opportunity to register their trademarks and take necessary measures to protect their rights. Al-Hadhri encouraged artisans to utilize the information and guidance available from specialized institutions before digitally marketing and selling their products. This support is crucial in ensuring the authenticity and value of Tunisian handicrafts.

The integration of e-commerce into the handicraft sector is part of Tunisia's efforts to enhance its digital economy. By providing artisans with the tools and platforms needed to succeed online, the government aims to increase the competitiveness of Tunisian handicrafts in the global market and promote economic growth.
