The Tunisian government and the African Development Bank have signed two guarantee agreements to support key development projects in the country. The agreements, signed on September 22, 2026, by Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Abdel Hafiz and African Development Bank's General Manager Malin B lomberg, aim to provide financing for the National Water Exploitation and Distribution Company and the Tunisian Chemical Group.
The first agreement provides $111.5 million, approximately 377 million Tunisian dinars, to support a project aimed at improving the technical and energy efficiency of the drinking water network in Greater Tunis. The project seeks to enhance the performance of the water supply system, ensuring a more reliable and sustainable service for the population.
The second agreement provides $110 million, approximately 321 million Tunisian dinars, to support a project aimed at promoting environmental rehabilitation and modernizing production units of the Tunisian Chemical Group. This project is expected to contribute to the improvement of the environmental and energy footprint of the chemical industry in Tunisia.
According to Minister Abdel Hafiz, these projects align with the country's strategic priorities and development objectives, as outlined in the 2026-2030 development plan.
