Algeria is set to launch new export operations of electronic and home appliances to six markets, including Tunisia, on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion announced that five operations will depart from Sétif, Bordj Bou Arréridj, and El Tarf to Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania, Mali, Egypt, and Jordan. Companies involved in these exports include Condor, Sinova Samsung, Géant, Iris, and Biolux, which markets the Maxwell brand.

The announcement does not imply that five new brands will enter the Tunisian market, as some Algerian-made products are already sold there and have been exported regularly. Géant Electronics, for instance, shipped 20 trucks of electronic products to Tunisia in July 2025. Condor has a longer commercial history in the country, while Iris has also exported home appliances to Tunisia. These brands are already available in structured commerce, with large Tunisian retailers like Mytek offering Condor, Iris, Maxwell, and Biolux products with warranties and after-sales service.

The Tunisian market for electronics and home appliances is already open to products made in the region. A parallel market for these goods has historically been significant, particularly in the Moncef Bey souk, where foreign products are sold outside of authorized representative networks. The new export operation from Algeria will add to this existing market. Industry players like Samsung illustrate the evolving market dynamics, with the company having a long-standing partnership with El Athir in Tunisia.

El Athir has developed local production of motherboards and power supply cards for TVs since 2012 and continues to assemble electronic cards and TVs, distributing Samsung and TCL products. Meanwhile, Samsung devices made in Algeria are now being shipped directly to Tunisia. In March 2025, Sinova, Samsung's industrial partner in Sétif, exported an initial batch of 231 washing machines and 162 refrigerators to Tunisia, followed by additional shipments.

The Tunisian market combines local assembly, imports of finished products, and supplies from multiple regional industrial hubs. The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion did not specify which companies will supply each of the six countries or the volumes destined for Tunisia. However, the announcement confirms the intention of Algerian-based industries to increase exports to neighboring markets, with Tunisia being an explicitly targeted destination.

The presence of Algerian brands in Tunisia is visible in structured commerce, with Mytek and other retailers offering a range of products. This presence adds to the existing parallel market for electronics and home appliances. The evolving market dynamics are characterized by increased competition and a growing range of products available to consumers.

The new export operations from Algeria will likely contribute to the growth of the electronics and home appliances market in Tunisia. With multiple industrial partners involved, including Condor, Sinova Samsung, and Géant, the market is expected to become even more competitive. As the market continues to evolve, consumers in Tunisia can expect a wider range of products and brands to choose from.
